The Golden Cross is the oldest public house in Shrewsbury, with an unbroken tradition of hospitality stretching back to 1428.
Originally the sacristry for St. Chad's Church, the ruins of which are just across the road, over the centuries it has undergone many more transformations and been, variously, ale house, tavern, Royalist retreat and takeaway sausage shop, albeit an 18th century one!
Now owned by Gareth and Theresa Reece, the Golden Cross is a family-run inn dedicated to stimulating the entire spectrum of pleasure with scrumptious cooking that is at once contemporary and traditional, a mouthwatering wine list, mountainous bar stocks and an atmosphere designed for revelry.
